Flowers and the Internet
Has everyone seen Elf, you know how certain elves are good at making toys and other elves are good at making cookies in trees, well only certain elves are good at making flower arrangements! Those elves are called florists. Many have been working at their craft all of their life. They went to school or learned at their fathers knee. The people on the Internet don't even really make the flowers, they try to farm out the order for a much reduced price to a real floral elf. The real florists are trying to do the best they can with much less money than it takes to make the picture that you saw on the Internet but they can't! So you think it's the florist fault and you call them but you ordered on the Internet! There are certain things that should still be done the old fashioned way, like ordering flowers! Call, stop by, chat, we love the personal touch! And send flowers for New Year's Eve so the hostess can have them on the table before everyone arrives! It's a really fun and Elfish thing to do! Call 215-968-9555 or stop by 17 Cambridge Lane Newtown Pa 18940

Sending joy
We get to walk our talk, yesterday we had a person who wasn't happy. We calmed her down and made it right even though it wasn't our fault. Being a peaceful warrior is always worth the effort. Step out of the way and just be peaceful it is always the right thing to do. Thanks, for the great lesson!

Late summer weddings
So simple and lovely, daisies and beautiful weather. Lately something has been on my mind. I love spending time with brides planing and deciding on flowers and decor for their special day. They choose their venues, dresses, band, and many other touches based on their tastes. The flowers and decor are important. The cost of everything is important. You get what you pay for and while a florist can stay in a budget. You can't have your wedding at the Ritz on a firehouse budget, and You can't have calla lilies and mokara orchids on a carnation and daisy budget. The photos are from a wedding at Rosebank Winery. The ceremony was in a field and the reception in the barn. The couple had a budget and I was able to stick to it. I help couples add nature and beauty to their special day. So, you pay for a service, you pay for flowers and you pay for expertise. Thanks for letting us participate in your special.

A day with the sharks!
A wedding at the Camden Aquarium. We had a great time, the staff was wonderful and we had a lot of fun planning this wedding. We actually went back the same week for an outing and got to pet the skates! During the reception they raise the screens and the guests spend the entire night dancing with sharks! Thanks for inviting us to be a part of your day!

Mother's Day 2012! Of course there's a wedding! I worked with my wonderful friend and amazing photographer Barbara Pellegrino. The weather was amazing! Not too hot and picturesque sunshine! We all worked together to make this day perfect for almost a year. These are my unprofessional photos, but I saw Barb's and they are awesome! Such a happy couple and we were so greatful to work with Barb again! We called our bride Tinker Bell because she was so sparkley! Thanks for a great day! Love you Tink! Valentines Day 2012
There is so much commentary going on about the floral business and they say any press is good press. I for one don't believe that putting out negative energy in any way is good. For days I was riveted to the conversation about how bad certain things are to the floral industry, blah, blah... However just like in my life I prefer to focus on what is good and not fill my head with negativity. So we are busy, we are having fun and we do Great work!
I want to get better at what I do all the time and I want to have fun. Today we are making the cutest little baby rose wrist corsages for The Goodnoe Father-Daughter dance.
We are doing a wedding at
Citizens Bank Park and....we are making lots of GORGEOUS roses and floral arrangements. That is very good!

Staying connected
So... I have been listening to motivational speakers for years. Just recently I have been turned on to Seth Godin, Darren Hardy and people from Success Magazine. They have been advising people to really think about why they do what they do. The life of a retail florist is interesting. We have times when we are so busy that we can't catch our breath and then there are days like today and yesterday when we get to sit, dream and read Facebook!? But it also gives me time to contemplate, yesterday I had "light bulb" moment!
This past summer we were doing a wedding at The Center Bridge Inn and I was chatting with the brides Aunt. I ask her where she's from and she says oh originally I'm from Newtown right up the road. I laugh and say oh that's where our store is. I ask her her maiden name and she tells me and I say do
you know E and she says oh E is my mother! I am very excited cause I haven't seen E in a few years. She has been living at one the retirement homes and I lost track of her. I very excitedly go over and reintroduce myself to E, who still is doing very well, but doesn't drive any more. Hence, the reason I haven't seen her in a few years. We chat and get reacquainted.
Oh yeah, there was a wedding going on. The bride was E's granddaughter I'm sure you guessed. Soo... The real reason for this long story is yesterday
E came to see me! I have so many wonderful people who I have known over 22 years of working here. I keep up
With lots of them. When people get older and can't get around I miss them and ask for them. So... Reason number one I do what I do is the life long connections we get to make with people. Thanks for that reminder E as I am coming up to one of the toughest holidays... I always LOVE seeing all my besties!!!

Brick and Mortar Florist!
I have spent time meeting with small florists for many years. We are a group of the hardest working, kindest people in the world. Last night I was at a meeting about a group started by florists to raise awareness to the public about some deceptive practices that have been going in our business on the Internet. There are floral businesses who position themselves on the Internet and make the consumer believe they are the local neighborhood florist, when in fact they might be answering their phones in the Philipines.
We want to raise awareness of the importance of patronizing your local neighborhood florist. It is so inspiring to meet with people who have struggled and survived through the recession, through the takeover of food store and the Internet selling flowers. We have survived! We are good and we care about the future of small business and the future of the floral industry. So live local, buy local, love your local, 3/50 project , whatever you wanna call it . We are your expert! We are your neighbor. We can expertly guide you and we want to help you, Call us 215-968-9555 or stop in 17 Cambridge Lane Newtown Pa
